VA recently implemented a mobile Veterans appointment request application at 99 sites across the country to further modernize its systems and give Veterans more scheduling choices.
“VA is making critical improvements to Veteran health care, and will always look to leverage innovative tools that will put more capabilities in the hands of Veterans,” said VA Secretary Dr. David J. Shulkin. “Self-scheduling apps are widely used in the private sector and will help create a better experience for Veterans and their medical-care providers.”
Last month, VA awarded a contract to Document Storage Systems to provide an off-the-shelf online patient self-scheduling system to help improve access to care for Veterans. The app is the focus of an 18-month pilot program, under which Veterans can use a cell phone, tablet, computer or mobile device to schedule and confirm primary care, specialty care and mental health appointments.
VA’s mobile Veterans Appointment Request app also provides most of the key capabilities required by the Faster Care for Veterans Act of 2016, and is modeled after successful mobile applications used for patient scheduling. VA intends to continue development and incorporate new capabilities into the app.

`My appointments are over 70 days or more. That is if I have a resident primary MD, available. My specialist appointments are great. Loma Linda Medical Center
A list of the 99 sites would be helpful to whomever reads the app article. I’m in las vegas, and would like to know when the app comes here. Tired of spending time on the phone trying to make an appt. I usually wait 15 min. Then hang up!
I tried this app out and my Dr. Wasn’t very happy that I had made an appointment this way. I received a letter that I needed to get lab work done and make a “face to face” appointment ASAP. I thought about using this and then remembered out that went before. So I called to make this appt. and was told, because of a notation my Dr. had made, I couldn’t see her until July 31, 2017, this is as ASAP as I could be.
Because of a notation of need not be seen for 6 months, I may have my meds cut off.
Today is May 20, 2017, that appt. is 2 months away.
You better check with your Dr. before using this.
Hopefully it is really an off the shelf application that’s been tested. Getting speciality care appointments takes forever. I’m permanently in Priority Group 1.
Optomistic here the app will work and hoping VADIP will rerturn too
Biggest crock of what comes out of the south end of a north bound bull. Everybody that tries that app goes back to the My Health E Vet site to schedule appointments via the secure messaging app on http://www.myhealth.va.gov because of how inaccurate, misleading and wrong information is on the new evets.gov and mobile VAR apps.
Who needs a mobile app? 8 year VN vet would just like health care before I die…………………
when will this be avaliable
When will this be available to White City,Or vets? Great program.
