Recently, VA started a pilot telehealth program called Telemedicine Outreach for PTSD (TOP), which provides remote access to mental health care to Veterans living with PTSD in rural areas. We’re excited to see this initiative help more patients live happier, healthier lives, and we aim to lay the foundation for the national implementation of TOP. If you also have a passion for serving those who’ve served, learn more about this program and consider a career on our dedicated team.
To date, more than 500 rural Veterans have enrolled in TOP. They receive psychotherapy and related services in the comfort of their own homes and in VA community-based outpatient clinics, through phone and interactive video contact with psychiatrists and psychologists. This saves patients the time and effort of traveling to urban areas where our medical centers are located. And there’s no loss in care quality, as our employees work diligently to deliver the same great treatment they would provide in person. It’s part of our commitment to clinical excellence for American Veterans everywhere.
