Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Glen Ingram, who served as a logistics specialist during Operation Desert Storm.
Glen Ingram was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in southern Missouri. In 1986, while in high school, Ingram joined the Navy Reserve through the split training program that allowed him to complete basic training between his junior and senior year of high school. He said, “getting away from home at 17 years old, being responsible for yourself, I think helped me grow up a little bit.”
At the age of 21, Ingram deployed to Bahrain as a part of Operation Desert Storm. While in Bahrain, Ingram helped with the construction of a hospital. As a logistics specialist, Ingram ensured that they acquired the proper resources they needed to complete the hospital. He said, “it was a good growth experience… having to understand that besides living and dying you also may end up being maimed or losing a limb… so I think it was a good growing up experience for someone that was 21 years old.”
Ingram later attended the University of Nebraska – Omaha where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Ingram left the Navy Reserve after eight years of service. After leaving the Navy Reserve, Ingram moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he currently runs a digital marketing agency that helps businesses with marketing and building websites.
Ingram said the most important lesson he learned while in the Navy Reserve was, “being a little more humble and learning to deal with people.”
