Lead, mentor and make even more of a difference in your career by becoming a Nurse Executive at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
VA is on the lookout for candidates to fill open Associate Directors of Patient Care Services (ADPCS) positions at sites around the country.
These top executives in VA nursing advance the quality of care for more than 9 million Veterans enrolled in VA. They apply their clinical skills to shape and develop the care practices of all the VA nurses who care for Veterans.
“Nurse Executives are standardizing nursing practices and driving results in the delivery of nursing services to Veterans,” said Donna Collins, National Associate Director of Nurse Recruitment and Retention at VA’s National Healthcare Recruitment Service. “We are seeking applicants ready to make policy decisions and resolve the most complex and sensitive operational issues involving Veterans’ care at VA.”
Choose VA to be a voice for nurses
ADPCS at the more than 170 VA medical centers and outpatient centers around the country are a key part of the executive leadership team and report directly to the VA Medical Center Director. Their duties include strategic planning, organizational assessments and program development. They establish standards of nursing practice and ensure the continuous and timely availability of quality nursing services.
“ADPCS lead all nurses at the VA facility and outpatient clinics, including registered nurses, advanced practice nurses and allied health staff,” Collins said. “They raise the quality of nursing care across the organization, improve the Veteran-centric team-care approach and, ultimately, help millions of Veterans get better, faster.”

“We look forward to reviewing applications from high-quality nurse leaders, who help VA provide Veterans with the excellent healthcare they need and deserve,” said Collins.
