Are you a Veteran that is having trouble sleeping? Please join VA’s Office of Connected Care and DAV on Wednesday, September 4 at 12 p.m. ET for a Facebook Live event – Get Back to Sleep with VA Tools and Technologies.
Getting quality sleep may not sound like a critical health issue, but there is a link between the lack of quality sleep and critical issues like suicidality, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, diabetes, and an increased risk of depression.
Compounding the problem, sleep issues are highly prevalent among Veterans, and there is a shortage of sleep specialists nationwide.
VA experts will discuss sleep tools and technologies like Path to Better Sleep, Remote Veteran Apnea Management Platform (REVAMP), CBT-i Coach, and others. Many of these apps are designed to supplement work with a provider and add to care between appointments. Others are self-guided and can help with strategies for improving and tracking sleep over time.
Experts on the latest technologies
During the Facebook Live event, our experts will discuss how these technologies are helping to deliver care when and where it’s needed and share information about future enhancements of these tools and technologies.
Participating in the event is easy:
- Visit DAV’s Facebook page on September 4, 2019, at 12 p.m. ET.
- For a reminder, visit the Facebook Event Page and select “Going” to receive an automatic event reminder.
Be sure to tune in. For those unable to attend at that time, the event video will be archived and available on the VHA and DAV’s Facebook page for later viewing.

I been having problems trying to fall asleep Since 1990, I been asking for help to from the VA ever since then, with no success what so ever. I been sleeping anywhere from 2 to 3hrs per night, very restless and can’t fall asleep in day time or take naps in the day time at all. I use to sleep very good before I went in to the Army a healthy young 23 yr old woman. Please help
I experienced the same exact thing over the same time period. I ended up on half a dozen different meds but still have bad quality sleep. I ended up gaining over a hundred pounds and had high bp and my heart became enlarged. I decided to go my own way and quit all the meds and lost over a hundred pounds. My sleep is still an issue but without the meds my health has improved. I do utilize my own CBT and although I’m not fixed I am doing better and have adjusted to the fact I’ll never ever get a good night’s sleep.
If the VA really cares about vets who have trouble sleeping leadership would stop the practice of super stringent adjudication of direct service connected sleep apnea claims. I believe the super stringent adjudication is illegal. Many raters in various forums have communicated that sleep apnea claims that lack an in service diagnosis are automatically denied.
