    On Dec. 31, 2020, VA resumed in-person disability compensation and pension (C&P) medical exams performed by VA contractors. The C&P exams are now available for scheduling in 42,516 U.S. zip codes.

    Your examiner doesn’t decide whether or not your condition is service connected – VBA claims processors do. C&P exams are tools used by claims processors to either collect missing evidence or clarify information in your claim. A complete C&P exam is just one part of the complete body of evidence from which claims processors must consider when making their decision.

  • VBA seeks sources, RFI, for Medical Disability Examinations

    VBA has published a SOURCES SOUGHT/REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) for a potential MDE. The MDE contract is VA’s mechanism in determining the extent of a Veteran's disability and the disability rating that is warranted. Veterans know these as "compensation & pension exams," or "C&P exams."
