Effective July 5, all VA medical centers will be prepared to offer emergency stabilization care for former service members who present at the facility with an emergent mental health need.

Patients will be able to see VA’s Tele-ICU licensed physicians — called tele-intensivists — and critical-care nurses through telecommunications or other electronic technologies.

VA now has the flexibility to hire qualified health-care executives expeditiously to lead its key health-care organizations without going through a previously cumbersome and time-consuming hiring process.
