Jake served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After separating from service he was injured and partially paralyzed. He came to VA for help, and received much more than he expected.

Felix Garcia joined the Marine Corps and deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Shrapnel wounds from an attack in November 2005 led to his medical discharge. After service, Garcia became active in the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes.

Fifteen of the 44 Fisher Houses that serve the Veterans Affairs healthcare systems have pivoted to support the frontline healthcare professionals that are risking their own well-being to save others.

David Zurfluh talks about his time in the Air Force, his accident and injury, the evolution of accommodations, and how his organization serves Veterans.

"They want to help people one way or another. As I like to tell people, you don't have to carry this load all by yourself."

Each year HillVets recognizes 100 members of the Veteran community as the HillVets 100.

We sat down with Kevin Quarles, a Navy Veteran and staff member at Operation Stand Down, to learn about his service, the value that OSDTN brings to its community, and his personal efforts with the organization.
