The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is now accepting applications for its Dole Caregiver Fellowship and Untold Story Challenge. Both opportunities give Veteran caregivers and children a voice.
Are you a Veteran caregiver looking to accomplish personal and professional goals, connect with a network of peers and community leaders, and be a part of something bigger than yourself? Apply today for the Elizabeth Dole Foundation caregiver fellowship!
Dole Caregiver Fellows are military and Veteran caregivers from across the nation who are carefully selected each year to represent the foundation and provide valuable insight and perspective into the most pressing issues concerning the community. Beyond their service as loved ones providing care for wounded warriors and Veterans, they are empowered to uplift the experiences of hidden heroes like them, so they know they are not alone in this journey.
Dole Caregiver Fellows also serve as leaders in their local communities who share their caregiving stories to bring vital attention to the challenges military and Veteran caregivers face. Through the foundation, caregivers receive support, training and a platform to address the issues impacting the community. They also share their stories with national leaders and decision-makers in the business, entertainment, faith and nonprofit sectors to transform our country’s caregiver support culture. These brave individuals come from all walks of life but are bonded by their stories of struggle and resilience.
The online application and reference form for caregivers is open until Jan. 15, 2023.
Untold Story Challenge
Do you know a child or young adult who has helped care for a Veteran loved one at home? Share this exciting opportunity with them!
The Untold Story Challenge presented by the Elizabeth Dole Foundation seeks to shine a light on America’s military and Veteran youth—“hidden helpers”—and showcase the strength, compassion and hope of the community. Through writing, drawing, film, photography or any creative practice, hidden helpers can reflect on their experiences and see themselves in the stories of others.
With the generous support of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s partners at The History Channel and A&E Networks, the grand prize winner of the Untold Story Challenge will be awarded a $5,000 savings bond and a two-night trip for two to the foundation’s annual Heroes & History Makers gala in Washington, D.C. in fall 2023.
Military and Veteran children ages 24 and under may apply. Submissions for those under 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the contract-release form on their behalf.
The deadline to apply for the Untold Story Challenge prizes is Jan. 20, 2023. The winners will be announced and awarded the prizes in April 2023 in honor of the Month of the Military Child. Click here for more details and to access the submission portal.
