Sometimes we get stuck in a rut which can lead to all kinds of health problems, both physical and emotional. Moving the body can be just the medicine we need. Tai chi is a form of gentle movement that can improve muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and stress relief. It involves the coordination of breath, posture, awareness, visualization and focused movements.
This exercise originated in China as a form of martial arts. Often called “meditation in motion,” Tai chi offers benefits to both body and mind by slowing us down and allowing us to move the body with the breath.
Many VA medical centers are offering Tai chi classes both in person and online. Give yourself a 14-minute break from your routine with this Tai chi video featuring Memphis VA Clinical Psychologist, Cynthia Mealer.
More on Whole Health
Tai chi and Qigong are simple, low impact ways to move your body and boost self-esteem. For more ways on how to live healthier through Whole Health, visit https://www.va.gov/WHOLEHEALTH/circle-of-health/index.asp.
Tai chi and other forms of exercise may help with mild depression and anxiety. If you are living with these issues, it can prevent you from living your best life, and sometimes lead to even more serious consequences. When self-care is not enough to deal with a mental health problem, VA can help.
VA’s services range from peer support with other Veterans to counseling, therapy, medication, or a combination of these options. Our goal is to help you take charge of your treatment and live a full and meaningful life. Learn more at: https://www.mentalhealth.va.gov/.

Thank you for doing this exercise and video . For others who do not know : Live Whole Health : self – care episode # 3 – Tai chi
Also , could probably Google either Tai chi or Qigong and click on videos . Maybe even search Tai chi or Qigong VA and find something .
Unfortunately , I doubt VA hospitals/clinics are conducting Tai chi / Qigong classes ,such as my local clinic, with the Covid 19 happening .
How can I see more Tai Chi videos?
