What does connection mean to you? Sometimes we might feel connected to other people, nature or something else bigger than ourselves. Other times we might feel disconnected. In these times, it can be helpful to reconnect with our body and mind.
Sometimes posture or movement can make a positive impact on our mood and how we feel about everything around us. Think about your posture when you are upset, sad or angry. You might hunch over, clench your jaw or other muscles, or just feel more closed off. Now think about how your posture is when you’re excited or happy. Maybe you feel more open or lighter. Just as our mood can impact our posture, our posture can also impact our mood.
Try this 9-minute practice—Connecting Mind and Body—by yoga teacher Matthew Sanford and Greater Los Angeles VA physician Indira Subramanian, who explore seated back bends and opening more to all that is around us.
