July 4, 2026, marks 250 years of independence. In honor of this milestone, VA is partnering with America250 to honor one amazing Veteran per week for the next 250 weeks leading up to July 4, 2026.
This week’s America250 salute is Air Force Veteran Charles Duke, a fighter interceptor pilot who became the youngest man to walk on the moon.
This week’s America250 salute is Marine Corps Veteran Jay Vargas, who received a Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart for action in Vietnam.
This week’s America250 salute is Army Veteran Leroy Petry, who received a Medal of Honor for protecting teammates from a grenade explosion.
This week’s America250 salute is Navy Veteran Vincent Capodanno, who received a Medal of Honor for his actions during battle in Vietnam.
