Honoring Vets

VA was honored to lead the country in honor Veterans by holding observances across the nation throughout the month of November.

VA has announced that the application process for the national Veterans Identification Card is now available for Veterans.

At VA Medical Centers across America, thousands of Veterans are being served Thanksgiving dinners by Veterans, staff, volunteers, community organizations and government officials.

As Americans across the nation celebrate Thanksgiving this week, I am most grateful and thankful for our country’s Veterans and their families.

Being a Marine taught me the importance of giving back. But my last mission may be my most crucial: instilling the same values in my son.

The Central Alabama Health Care System kicked off its Veterans Day Parade Thursday honoring all Veterans – including 97-year-old Tuskegee Airman Oscar C. Gadson Jr. who served as the parade’s grand marshal.

This year marked the 35th anniversary of the memorial and a reading of the names has been held every five years.

On this day, we remember those who have sworn an oath to honor and defend this great nation.

To me, being a Veteran means having an opportunity to serve your country in an unselfish and extraordinary way. As a Veteran, I’ve spent my career doing just that.

Veterans Day is a day when all Americans honor the brave men and women who have defended our nation and preserved our way of life.
