Joseph Noil is not exactly a house hold name and even those that know him best will admit that he is shrouded in mystery. Best guesses surround not only his name, but also his home town, his period of service and the exact cause of his death. About the only things that are certain about Joseph Benjamin Noil, is that he served in the U.S. Navy, he was an African American and he was an American hero.
An $8.9 million grant from the VA funded the new Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona.
On March 2, VA partnered with Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) to answer questions on Facebook about these memorial benefits.
Since 2006, volunteers from Veterans service organizations, the Civil Air Patrol and community groups have placed wreaths at VA’s national cemeteries and state Veterans cemeteries.
The new 318-acre cemetery in Scottsmoor, Florida, will serve the burial needs of more than 163,000 Veterans and their spouses for the next 100 years.

VA awarded 15 grants totaling more than $47 million to establish, expand and improve state and tribal Veterans cemeteries in fiscal year 2015.
“Saluting Branches” is the first annual nationwide effort of arborists and volunteers to sustain the landscape of our national shrines through tree care.
