Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Wilma L. Vaught, who accomplished many firsts for women during her nearly 29-year military career.

Air Force Veteran Susan Feland served in the Air Force from 1993 to 2001. Feland is the founder and President of AcademyWomen, a 501c3 non-profit organization created by and for military women to provide mentoring services and extensive networking and development opportunities.

On his 80th birthday, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Chuck Norris, who served as air police before becoming a karate champion and movie star.

Air Force Veteran Charles E. Yeager served in World War II and the Vietnam War. Yeager became the first man to break the sound barrier on Oct. 14, 1947, flying the experimental Bell X-1.

Military movies can often remind Veterans of their service. They can also bring up painful memories of the past.

Air Force Veteran and Silver Star recipient John Pighini is someone who knows both sides of this issue. He recently worked as a technical adviser on a major motion picture that showcased the bravery of service members, but also brought up a painful past. These movies can sometimes show Veterans dealing with their own struggles: anger, paranoia, edginess, regret and survivor’s guilt.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Air Force Veteran Claude Anderson, who flew on 35 combat missions during World War II before becoming a physician.
