At VA, Public Service Recognition Week is an opportunity to celebrate and honor the organization’s valued public servants in appreciation of their contributions to the department and to our nation’s Veterans.
The group is inspired by the words of Winston Churchill, “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”
At every point of the way, as we waited or were speaking to someone, it was apparent that these workers deeply believed in their mission to honor and serve those that served our country.
It is a story of how one family from a small town in Wisconsin came in contact with a much-maligned government agency only to find out that all of the recent press and bad news about this group of people is not what it has been reported to be.
Events like this are vital because they allow Veterans to expand their network and knowledge before they are in crisis.
“They are my family and I appreciate each one of them and all they have done for me," one Veterans says about his team at the Manchester VA.
When one VA employee heard about an opportunity to help Veterans dress for success, she and team members from the St. Louis Records Management Center jumped in to action.
