Honoring Vets

For more than 200 years, men and women of Asian and Pacific Island decent have voluntarily taken the oath to “support and defend the constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.“

The Veterans "Welcome Home" event is part of a VA-nation-wide program to offers health screenings, benefits information and increase awareness about VA programs for returning service members and their families.

Approximately 300 people attended the 2nd Annual Vietnam War Remembrance Ceremony on April 6 at Hanna Early College High School in Brownsville, Texas.

The memorial will honor the 2,706 Marines and sailors who died in Vietnam while serving with the 5th Marine Regiment in Vietnam.

“Don’t let age define what you can or can’t do," says the he 92-year-old legally blind Veteran. "Do what you can do, and if you can’t, find something else to do.”

This 22-year Navy veteran spent 1,367 days in captivity as a prisoner of war during World War II. And he’s about to turn 103 years old April 28.

March 29 is National Vietnam War Veterans Day.  This special day was added to our national holidays when the president signed into law the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017.
