“I wouldn’t be here without VA. They changed my life,” said Navy Veteran Joe Ann McBride, who gets her care at the Carl Vincent VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia and is participating this week at the National Veterans Golden Age Games.
“I’m competing in the track and field events, and shotput and javelin,” said Bremenkamp, who recently celebrated his 84th birthday. “I think it’s great the VA supports Veterans like this.”

The National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic made such an impact on his life that Vietnam Veteran Bob Haas created an adaptive sports program at home.
Often referred to as “Miracles on a Mountainside,” the clinic promotes rehabilitation through adaptive Alpine and Nordic skiing, rock climbing, wheelchair self-defense, sled hockey, scuba diving, and other adaptive sports and activities.
