VA’s national cemeteries will host a National Day of Service on Monday, September 11 to honor our nation’s servicemembers, police, fire and first responders on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. This day of service will take place at more than 60 national VA cemeteries and include opportunities for volunteers to clean headstones and participate in other beautification activities.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran William Edward Hall. Hall served as an aviator in the Pacific Theatre of World War II.
Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army and Air Force Veteran Joseph R. Sarnoski, whose actions as a bombardier for the Army Air Corps during World War II earned him the Medal of Honor.
Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Air Corps Veteran Francis S. “Gabby” Gabreski. Gabreski was an ace in both World War II and the Korean War.
Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran David H. McNerney, who received a Medal of Honor for his actions during the Vietnam War.
