Tom was born in Topeka, Kansas, and graduated college with a teaching degree. He was married with one child and another one on the way when he realized he couldn’t survive on a teacher’s paycheck. He met with an Air Force recruiter and with his sights set on becoming a navigator, Tom enlisted.
When Keith enlisted in 2008, he served first as a unit supply logistics specialist and then a senior logistician in Iraq at Camp Mejid during Operation New Dawn. He was also stationed at Camp Stanley in South Korea and Fort Stewart in Georgia.

After taking his boot training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Guy was assigned to Trinidad. While a brand new destroyer was visiting his station in Trinidad, Guy traded duties with a sailor and became a machinist mate second class.
