Navy Veteran Joseph James “Jocko” Clark was the first Native American to graduate from the Naval Academy. He served during both World Wars and the Korean War.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay honors the Comanche Code Talkers who served as communication specialists during World War II battles in Europe.

This week’s America250 salute is Army Veteran Ernest Childers, who was the first Native American to receive a Medal of Honor during World War II.

During National Native American Heritage Month, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Woodrow W. Keeble, a Korean War Medal of Honor recipient.

The public will be able to walk on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Plaza and lay flowers in front of the Tomb on Nov. 9 and 10, 2021. The flower ceremony will start at 8 a.m. Nov. 9 with representatives from the Crow Nation placing flowers at the Tomb. They will recite a prayer in honor of Chief Plenty Coups, who served as a scout for the U.S. Army.

During National Native American Heritage Month, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Marine Veteran Louis Charlo, who fought at the Battle of Iwo Jima.

During National Native American Heritage Month, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Billy Walkabout, a Vietnam Distinguished Service Cross recipient.

During National Native American Heritage Month, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Joshua Wheeler, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Charles Sequoyah Lee Chupco, who served 20 years.

In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Michael Joseph Bugaj, who served from 1972 to 1995.
